This earthenware mug by Moorland Pottery features a black and white wrap-around design featuring Winston Churchill and the famous quote, "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." The quote comes from a speech delivered to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom on 4 June 1940 that is largely regarded as one of the most rousing and iconic addresses of World War II.

Based in Burslem, known as the “Mother Town” of the Potteries and one of the six towns making up the City of Stoke-on-Trent. Established in 1986 and now well known for their pottery mugs decorated with humorous and local dialect sayings and phrases, Moorland Pottery borrows colloquialisms from many different areas and regions of the UK. Their “Stokie Mugs” in particular are decorated with sayings and phrases from the Potteries.
