Embossed on this fine bone china plate is a painting of the Battle of Cape St. Vincent in 1797, during the French Revolutionary Wars. Lord Nelson, despite commanding a smaller fleet than his Spanish opponents in the battle, defeated the armada, capturing 3000 Spanish sailors as well as secured the surrender of Admiral Don Jose de Cordoba y Ramos, and holding the blockade of Spain in the war.
