“The Tortoise and the Hare” is one of Aesop’s Fables. It is an account of a race between unequal partners and has conflicting interpretations. A Hare ridicules a slow-moving Tortoise. Tired of the Hare’s arrogant behaviour, the Tortoise challenges him to a race. The hare soon leaves the tortoise behind, and confident of winning takes a nap at the midway point. He wakes to find that the tortoise crawling slowly but steadily has won. Whats the lesson? The tortoise takes on the bully. The hare is foolishly overconfident. Many people have good natural abilities which are ruined by idleness. Zeal and perseverance can prevail over indolence.
