The jaguar has a connection with the Aztec creation account. Tezcatlipoca the god was the first sun that shone on humanity, his brother was very jealous of his power so he struck him down. Tezcatlipoca then transformed into a jaguar. There are five Aztec creation stories and all have conflict between these brothers. Expects in the Aztec culture believe that Tezcatlipoca appears to be the embodiment of change through conflict.
