Product description
Designers at Belleek have created a beautiful ornament embossed with gold and a lucky shamrock on the reverse. The Woodfolk Ltd from County Fermanagh has lovingly produced the turning oak sails, adding a playful feature to this unique piece.
Situated in Millisle, County Down, Ballycopeland Windmill is the only remaining functioning Windmill in Northern Ireland. With a typical stone tower, the Windmill was built around the 1780s–90s and had three stories. Powered by the wind transmitted from its sails, three pairs of millstones are found on the ground floor, responsible for making wheatmeal, shelling, and grinding grain into oatmeal. An important food source until the First World War, the Windmill was restored to working order in 1978 and now houses a visitor center.
