There are many birds in the Book of Kells - lavishly illustrated peacocks, doves, and eagles, apart from their beauty and decorative value, all have a symbolic significance, representing variously resurrection and immortality. Widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure, the Book of Kells represents the pinnacle of Celtic illuminated artwork. It contains lavishly decorated copy, in Latin, of the four gospels. This souvenir, finished in pure bronze, is inspired by imagery in the great manuscript.
