Rye Canterbury Tales - The Cook
DescriptionApprox. 8.5" tall They had a Cook with them who stood alone For boiling chicken with a marrow bone, But what a pity so it seemed to me, That he should have an ulcer on his knee. The Cook is a particularly good example of the timeless quality of Geoffrey Chaucers writing. It is easy to imagine todays Health & Safety team bearing down on him with his running abscess while working in his kitchen. The "ulcer on his knee" (perhaps unfortunately) is not masked by this Cook's russet apron!
