Product description
This charming Dickens Village illuminated building is an excellent rendition of an authentic Victorian bird seller’s shop and even plays bird sounds for a special touch. The Twelve Days of Christmas song's four calling birds inspired this lovely and festive piece. Birds were extremely popular in 19th-century England. Kept in elaborate cages, they were ornamentation in Victorian parlors, and for some, a small bird was considered a cherished luxury. Made from high-quality porcelain, its intricately detailed features are hand-painted by skilled artisans. The building is illuminated using a bulb and standard light cord.
Victorian England, at the time of Charles Dickens, was the center of culture for the world and where many traditions we celebrate today took shape. Its architecture, customs, and history are inherent in the Dickens Village Series from Department 56.
