    Product description

The Auld Scotland Tartan Lambswool Blanket is an ideal accessory to dress your home beautifully. Perfect for a cold winter's evening or superb for use in the summer as a picnic rug. Made from 100% lambswool at Lochcarron's Selkirk mill, the blanket combines traditional craftsmanship and quality.

Lochcarron produced this tartan in January 2008, around the anniversary of the National Bard, Robert Burns. Wishing to mark his 250th anniversary to be celebrated the following year, the name Auld Scotland was inspired by the modern version of his toast to the Haggis.

The colors used are reminiscent of those associated with the Ayrshire countryside. The pale Yellow recognises the importance of the barley used to create Scotland's National drink, whiskey, traditionally used to toast the Haggis, which has itself a base of golden oats. Although Burns, being a Lowlander, would have been unlikely to wear tartan, had Auld Scotland been in existence, we feel sure he would have enjoyed wearing such a design.
