This teaset, which includes a teapot and four matching cups, is inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's tale, The Emperor and the Nightingale. Made from a black clay (very like black basalt), this set is glazed on the outside to give a cast iron look without the weight. The contrasting teapot lid and matching cup interiors are glazed with a floral decoration, and the nightingale himself can be found perched on the teapot lid. As with all Alison Appleton teapots, Emperor's Bird has a removable stainless steel filter for a perfect cup of loose leaf tea every time, and easy cleaning when you are done.
